In this comprehensive guide, we'll tackle the main pain points many of you face: planning your blog, structuring your posts, and picking the right keywords. By the end, you'll know exactly how to position yourself as an expert, craft engaging content, and develop a solid SEO strategy. So, let's dive in and unleash your blogging potential!

Now, I know what you might be thinking. But I have no idea where to start with my first blog post! Don't worry, my friend. You're not alone. Many conscious service providers struggle with this same dilemma. The fear of not knowing what to write about or how to structure their thoughts can be paralyzing.

What should my first blog post be about?

Ah, the eternal question. Your first blog post is your grand entrance into the blogging world, so it's essential to make it count. The key is to choose a topic that aligns with your expertise and resonates with your target audience. I'll share some tips and tricks to help you uncover the perfect subject matter and ensure your first post leaves a lasting impression.

  • Write down 3-5 main pain points or current struggles your ideal clients may have
  • Pick your favorite and turn that pain point into a result-driven headline like:
  • How to (solve your problem) in 3 easy steps
  • Your questions answered (this vs this) which is better
  • The number one reason you are (not solving your problem)
  • The secret strategy to (solving your problem) step by step
  • Why does this work? Because these headline hooks do 2 things: position yourself as an expert in your field and solve a main problem
  • You should basically use this logic for all of your blog posts to engage your audience and turn them from readers into clients

Blogging tools:

No blogger is complete without SEO. I'll introduce you to some must-have blogging tools that will streamline your writing process, enhance your SEO efforts, and help you create visually stunning blog posts. From keyword research tools to content management systems, you'll discover a world of possibilities to elevate your blogging game.

  • Ubersuggest - This is my go-to SEO tool for doing keyword research and SEO audits
  • Marketing Magic (Affiliate link) - this is an amazing AI tool that can save you hours and hours of content writing you can plug a blog outline into this tool and it will write most of your blog for you, and you can customize this tool to your tone of voice. You do have to format and edit a bit but this tool saves me hours of work every month!
  • RankIQ - This is an advanced tool for blogging I do not recommend it for beginners, but it literally gives you the step by step blueprint to make sure each one of your blogs have the chance to rank on page 1 of Google. I am experimenting with this tool in 2024 and will update this post once I have some results to show you!

How to pick relevant keywords for your blog posts to rank on Google

The best advice I can give you is that you need to get familiar with a keyword research tool, my favorite is Ubersuggest because it’s simple and stress free plus gives you all the information you need to make keyword choices. Other tools like SemRush or Moz display so much data that it can be overwhelming to learn how to use them.

  • Pick niche long tail keywords meaning phrases with 3 or more words
  • Make sure your keywords are click worthy, meaning there is an interest to click past the search intent (list blog posts are a great example for this because when you see a headline like 10 things to do in New York, you’re very likely to want to click through to learn about the 10 things)
  • Make sure your keywords are problems your ideal clients are searching for, ideas, tips, etc and make sure they have a low competition but decent search volume (at least over 50 searches/month is a sweet spot)

Besides with the latest Google algorithm update,
Google now prioritizes helpful content meaning that you should position your blog as an authority on the topic revolving around your website.

For this Google put together a
guide for creating helpful content that includes:

  • Self assessing your content
  • Asking yourself content quality questions (if your blog is a trustworthy website that fact checks everything)
  • Expertise questions (if you don’t necessarily link to resources but you are an expert in your topic your content should reflect that as well as your website)
  • Provide a great on pag experience
  • Focus people first content
  • Ask who, how and why about your contet
  • Who created the content
  • How was the content created and if you used AI explain why that was helpful
  • Why was the content created. Using this premise allows you tos structure your introductions so that Google knows that you are creating content to solve a specific search query

It is also better to focus your website on your niche topic rather than trying to connect topics that don’t have too much in common together, because niching down your keywords allows Google to understand that you re creating relevant helpful content in your specific niche, and as a result starts to see your site as an authority on that niche topic. Once you build traffic to your blog then you can expand on adding extra categories of niche content.

Remember, your first blog post is just the beginning of an exciting journey

Embrace the process, inject your unique voice, and watch as your blog becomes a powerful tool to attract clients, establish yourself as an expert, and change the world, one website at a time.
