Plus, I'll share my personal recommendations to save you from burning out and make the most of your marketing budget while growing your online presence.

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of where to sell digital products, let's talk about some misconceptions you may have. One major concern is the belief that creating digital products takes an enormous amount of time. While it's true that creating high-quality products requires effort, with the right strategies, you can streamline the process and maximize your productivity.

Another worry that often creeps in is the fear of market saturation. You might wonder if there's any room left for your unique offerings in an already crowded digital space. But don’t worry! There's always a place for originality and authenticity. We'll explore how to stand out from the competition and carve your own niche.

Lastly, the tech side of selling digital products can be overwhelming, especially if you're not a tech-savvy person like me. I’ll give you my top recommendations and mixture of tech to make the most out of your time, quality of your content delivery and budget!

Now let's jump into the heart of the matter.

What are digital products?

Digital products are intangible goods that can be downloaded, accessed, or consumed online. They can take various forms, including e-books, online courses, templates, software, music, videos, and more. The beauty of digital products lies in their scalability and the ability to reach a global audience without the limitations of physical inventory.

Types of digital products

The world of digital products is HUGE, and the possibilities are endless. Here are some popular types of digital products you can create and sell:

  • E-books and guides
  • Online courses and workshops
  • Templates and themes
  • Stock photos and graphics
  • Software and apps
  • Music and audio files
  • Video tutorials and webinars
  • Printables and planners
  • Membership sites and subscriptions

How to sell digital products

Now that you have a clear idea of what digital products are, let's explore how to sell them effectively. Here are some key steps:

Validate your offers:

Before diving headfirst into product creation, it's crucial to validate your ideas. Conduct market research, identify your target audience, and ensure there's demand for your product. This step will save you time, effort, and disappointment down the road.

Create high-quality products:

Focus on delivering value and solving your audience's pain points. Invest time and effort into crafting products that truly add value and solve problems. If you’re desperate to sell a digital product but you truly haven’t spent a decent amount of time developing it, I hate to break it to you, but your products might not sell like hot cakes. Maybe you’ll make a sale here and there, but if you’re digital products are not GREAT, you won’t get raving reviews or referrals and it’s going to be really hard to scale your sales.

Choose the right platform:

Selecting the right platform is the foundation to your success. Consider factors like ease of use, customization options, payment gateways, and integrations with email marketing tools.

What about PLR?

Private Label Rights (PLR) products can be a tempting shortcut. However, they come with certain limitations. PLR products are pre-made content that you can purchase and modify to fit your brand. While they can save you time, keep in mind that they lack uniqueness and may not align perfectly with your target audience's needs. It's best to create your own original content or find white label resellable products that you can customize to maintain authenticity and quality.

Squarespace for your website, Thrive Cart for your shopping cart, and Mailerlite for email marketing. This trio offers a seamless user experience, easy integration, and powerful marketing capabilities to elevate your sales game.

Because Squarespace is the easiest to use website platform but their built in shopping cart is not my favorite.
