12 Self Care Habits for Female Coaches

When you have a big goal like quitting your job or building a business, self care habits are the secret to achieving it all one milestone at time without burning out in the process. So let’s make the process of building your dream business joyful and exciting shall we?


When I first started my business, I was so eager to do everything in a week, a month or even a year. I was so impatient to devour all the milestones and steps I needed to take to build my online presence that I quickly went through mental health issues, insecurities, burnout and stress.


But if you’re here it’s because you don’t want stress to determine your actions and business choices right? So let’s tap into how to take care of your mind and body while building a business and doing everything on your own, because trust me, I know exactly how it feels.


How to achieve self care every day?


First of all, in order to achieve self care every day the most important thing you need is: commitment. There will always be a new priority, a new to-do list or a new goal. Making yourself a priority is really all this is about, no matter how many deadlines you have, you and your physical and mental health should always come first. Your business, second.


The relationship between self care and burnout


Self care prevents burnout and it’s been proven to help reduce stress levels in your body for dealing with challenges. When I quit my job to focus on my business, I remember that my main stressor was thinking about money. 


I was so focused on thinking about how to create a new stable income, that the fear of not making money was greater than my energy of goal setting and weekly planning. I let the
fear of failure in business determine my actions and it led to not channeling my energy correctly into money-making business activities and tasks.


So in short, when you only focus on negative thoughts and don’t prioritize your mindset and mental wellbeing, you could burnout quickly. 


And I don’t want that to happen to you, so I’ve grouped my favorite self care habits and lessons that I’ve learnt over time, hoping these thoughts help you foster a healthy mindset and achieve your goals.


Self care habits for female entrepreneurs


Start and end your days without looking at your phone


Technology can drain so much energy. I’ve experienced an increase in better sleep and positive energy when starting and ending a day without looking at social media, emails or anything else. Your phone is in your life to help you serve a purpose: communicate, work & sometimes entertain. 


You are in control, and you have the power to not let blue lights and notification triggers become stressors in your routine. If you allow them to be there, to “vibrate” and “notify” you that you have to look at how many “likes” you got on your latest post, or that you have to open an email, then you let technology win. In the end, your phone was designed to literally make you an addict, so will you let it achieve this? (I recommend reading

Make exercise part of your work week schedule


Including your favorite exercise should be part of your work week, not an extra if you finish work early or have the time. Make the time for relaxing your muscles and relieving stress from your body. I have my most creative and productive work days after I do my much needed yoga from 9-11 am two days per week with mindfulness & small meditations that help me balance my energy. 



Use aromatherapy in your bathroom


How many times have you had a great idea while taking a shower? Well when you use aromatherapy or special products that activate your sense of smell it helps you relax before you hop into a busy workday or meeting. 


Dress up for self love and empowerment



Look at yourself in the mirror and dress up for empowerment. Even if you won’t be going outside of your home, putting on some lipstick, perfume and feeling beautiful is a self care habit that allows you to feel good about yourself for starting each day. Sometimes it inspires me to create content or take pictures for social media.


Eat what you love


I don’t believe in diets. I mean, if you have to be on a diet because of health issues, of course you should stick to it, but simply eating healthy and giving yourself treats is a way to foster joy into your everyday life. 

When you give yourself treats, you boost hormones in your body related to happiness and it helps you perform better during the day. 


For example, I can’t live without my afternoon salted chips when I need motivation for getting a huge workload done, or starting my day with a yummy spread with my moka coffee.


Schedule breaks 


Breaks as well as exercise need to be part of your daily routine. Whether that’s 20 minutes after lunch, or taking your time to start your productive day. They allow you to relax and recharge for shifting activities.


Make reading a habit not a goal


Many times people say they don’t have time for reading. But trust me, you do. If you can scroll 15 minutes per day on social media, you can spend 15 minutes per day reading. But the good news is that reading daily can make you finish a book in a week or two. So stop making excuses and stimulate your brain by nurturing your mind with content that adds value to your professional and personal life. 


Work in places that inspire you



When you work in places that make you feel calm and centered, you can also stimulate your creativity. I love to go to my favorite coffee shops once or twice a week to shift my energy, listen to music and work on my business with love. 



Manifest your dreams on paper by journaling


Daydreaming is a great self care habit. I never would have thought that after quitting my job I would be able to outsource, delegate and give myself a salary. These goals felt very scary and intimidating at first. I had imposter syndrome and many mindset blocks about achieving this, but I’ve learned that there is no huge goal you can’t accomplish if you don’t write it on paper. 


Once it’s there, it exists. And once it exists, it’s up to you to make it happen. 


Make your dreams a reality with strategic goal setting



Listening to meditations, or practicing journal prompts has helped me to turn these big goals and dreams into smaller achievable goals and tasks. With strategic goal setting you can break up your big goals into quarterly, monthly and weekly tasks. 


Reduce time on social media


I used to spend 80% of my time obsessing over social media, algorithms and what type of content to produce. After I broke up with my phone I also decided to break up with social media. I don’t let social media determine how my content strategy should look like. Frankly I use it for awareness and ads. But I have a clear focus on where to spend my time, energy and marketing efforts. 


Cleansing my time on social media has also allowed me to step away from so much noise in my niche, it has helped me to not compare myself to others daily and it has allowed me to stay more focused on my strategic goal setting.


Pamper yourself with treats when you achieve a goal



This is my favorite self care habit. Whenever you achieve a goal, either big or small, you should celebrate! 


For example, when I launch a website or end a project with a client, I plant a tree. But when I doubled my sales vs last year I went to dinner with my husband. Or when I hired my first staff member I opened a bottle of wine. I also tend to eat a cookie or buy myself a cup of coffee when I end a task I’m happy about finishing. 


Be strong enough to put yourself first and foster self-love so that your business can thrive and flourish with everything in balance.


Your dream business is just some milestones away. So enjoy the process. The ups and downs are natural, but with self care habits it makes the journey easy, joyful and stress free. 


I remember that someone asked me a question last year that changed my life: “If you’re doing everything that you’re supposed to be doing to build your dream business, why do you choose stress?” And I couldn’t answer, so since then I made a promise to myself to change my self care habits.
